Pakistan star batsman Babar Azam is likely to be named as the new captain of Pakistan ODI team and lead in the lone ODI against Bangladesh. He has already replaced the wicketkeeper-batsman Sarfaraz Ahmed as the skipper of the T20 side.

Sarfaraz was dropped from the Pakistan Test and T20 squad by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) in October last year in a surprise move, and made
and Babar the captains of the Test and T20 side respectively.
However the PCB did not name a captain for the 50-over format at that time. But now with Pakistan have a lone ODI match against Bangladesh on April 3, Babar has the most chance to lead the Men in Green.
Though many believe the decision to remove Sarfaraz as the captain of the one-day format will not be an easy one, as the wicketkeeper-batsman led his team to six consecutive ODI victories last year, starting with the World Cup league stage matches.
Sarfaraz had other successes as well. His biggest achievement as ODI captain was to lead Pakistan to the 2017 ICC Champions Trophy title that too after defeating arch-rivals

"There is no way the PCB or selectors can now justify not keeping Sarfaraz in the ODI team or replacing him with Babar Azam. It would be great injustice with a fine captain and a player,"
said Mohsin Khan, the former chief selector and head coach.
Mohsin is also of the opinion that it was okay to change Sarfaraz as Test cricket, but it was way too much to also drop him as a player in the Test and T20 formals.
"There was pressure on Sarfaraz as captain for all three formats but he is still the ideal choice for the white ball formats,"

Head coach and chief selector Misbah-ul-Haq as well as the two captain Babar Azam and Azhar Ali time and again reiterated that the door is still open for Sarfaraz, and he could make a comeback if he performed well in domestic cricket, including the upcoming Pakistan Super League (PSL).
