A group of 38 Australian players, coaches, officials and TV commentators have arrived back in Sydney on Monday on a charter flight, almost two weeks after the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2021 was suspended due to Covid-19 cases in its bio-bubble.

IPL was suspended indefinitely on May 4 as at least three franchises of eight reported positive Covid cases in their bio-bubble. So, the IPL organizers urged the players to fly back home immediately. But Australian players didn’t able to return home as Australian government imposed a ban on the travelers from India to keep the country safe from new Indian variant of Covid-19.
That’s why they went to Maldives to pass the time and waited for the travel ban to be lifted before going home via charter flight. National broadcaster ABC reported that Australian cricketers were on board an Air Seychelles plane that landed in Sydney about 7:30 am local time.
The New South Wales state government has composed an isolate arrangement for the cricket contingent that doesn't affect on the capped, overstretched system set up for travelers showing up from abroad.
The cricketers “did not take one place in quarantine that anyone else have otherwise had,” Australian Prime Minister Scott Morrison said. “That’s something we insisted on with the New South Wales state government when they were going to allow that flight back in.”
Former cricketer Mike Hussey, who remained in India due to testing positive for Covid-19, was scheduled to return home on Monday after the result for Covid-19 test came as negative.
