West Indies have beaten Australia by 37 runs on Tuesday (13th February) at Perth Stadium, Perth. Andre Russell's blitzkrieg 71 off only 29 deliveries and Sherfane Rutherford's 67 off 40 deliveries helped West Indies post 220 runs despite being cornered for 79-5. Australia were unable to chase the total as they could only manage to accumulate 183 runs losing 5 wickets and lost the match by 37 runs.

Earlier, West Indies won the toss and chose to bat first. Coming out to bat they faltered infront of Xavier Bartlett's onburst with the new ball. Xavier Bartlett teared apart the WI top order and cornered them for 79-5. But a fighting spirit from Andre Russell and Sherfane Rutherford aided them to rescue from the abysmal.

Andre Russell made a swashbuckling 71 off only 29 balls, while Sherfane Rutherford scored a blistering 67 off only 40 balls to take West Indies to 220 runs.

Chasing 221, Australia lost their captain Mitchell Marsh earlier of the innings. As he made only 17 off 13 balls and got out to Akeal Hossain. Aaron Hardie made run a ball innings and departed scoring 16 off 16 balls. David Warner stood tall from Australia and scored a quick-fire 81 off only 49 deliveries which helped them have some fight at the start of the chase.

But after the departure of David Warner, Australia lost the plot and couldn't come out of it. Despite Tim David's blistering 41 off 19 balls at the backend of the innings, Australia couldn’t reach their destination and missed the trick to not whitewash them. Andre Russell was named the player of the match for his firing 71 off just 29 balls.
