An outstanding 70* run stand between Phillips and Santner helps Kiwis level the series
Glenn Phillips unbeaten 40* helped Kiwis chase down a tricky total of 137 runs. Mitchell Santner too was prominent in the chase as he made a fine 35* to chase the total down to level the series.

New Zealand won the second test by 4 wickets on Saturday (9th December) at Shere Bangla National Cricket Stadium, Mirpur. Glenn Phillips unbeaten 40* helped Kiwis chase down a tricky total of 137 runs. Mitchell Santner too was prominent in the chase as he made a fine 35* to chase the total down to level the series.
Earlier, Bangladesh started the day with Mominul Haque and Zakir Hasan. Mominul Haque departed at the very start of the day as Ajaz Patel got him. Mitchell Santner gave the big blow as he removed the experienced campaigner Mushfiqur Rahim for cheaply. Shahadat Hossain Dipu and Mehedi Hasan Miraz too followed their teammates and got out cheaply in the tough conditions. Ajaz Patel and Mitchell Santner were running riot and bundled Bangladesh out for a measly 144 runs with a lead of only 136 runs.
In reply, New Zealand started scratchily as they lost their gun opener Devon Conway. Shoriful Islam's relentless tight bowling got the wicket of Conway. Tom Latham too was gone too. Taijul Islam gave the big breakthrough as he took the wicket of New Zealand's talismanic Kane Williamson. New Zealand kept losing wickets. Blundell and Nicholls too couldn’t do anything and New Zealand were succumbing on 69-6.
Glenn Phillips and Mitchell Santner came as rescue for Kiwis as a gutsty partnership of 70 runs which buried the dreams of Bangladesh. Phillips incredible 40* off 48 balls and Santner's outstanding 35* off 39 helped Kiwis level the series and win the match by 4 wickets.
