The health scare of Tamim Iqbal has shocked the cricket world. The senior opener had a huge heart attack on March 24 during a Dhaka Premier League (DPL) match, just moments after doing the toss for his team. Things could have gone badly at that moment, but by the grace of Allah, he survived.
Now comes the question everyone is considering: Will Tamim ever play cricket again?
A lot of people think that this physical setback could force him to drop out of cricket early. Akram Khan, Tamim's uncle and a former Bangladesh captain, has a different view. He is sure that Tamim will come back, but only if he changes his ways to be healthy. "I believe he will return to normal life within a month. There shouldn’t be any major issues," Akram told the media.
To make sure his blood flowed properly, Tamim had angioplasty and a stent (ring) put in his heart. But will this medical procedure change his future as a cricket player? Akram doesn't believe it. "Many players have continued playing after having a stent. He will need to adjust his lifestyle, but if he maintains his fitness and health properly, there shouldn’t be a problem. Given his skill and mental strength, I am confident he will be back," Akram added.
For now, Tamim is still being watched by doctors at Evercare Hospital in Dhaka. His family wants to take him to another country for more tests. Fans might still see Bangladesh's top run scorer return to the pitch and play in the DPL, BPL, and maybe even international cricket if everything goes well.
