Over 50 current and past cricketers from India and other countries were named to the official commentators' list for the IPL 2025 yesterday.  But one big name that wasn't included shocked fans: Irfan Pathan.  This season, the former Indian all-rounder is not on the IPL broadcast team like he was in past years.

An article from the Indian sports news site MyKhel says that Pathan was dropped because some Indian players were not happy with Irfan.  According to the story, some players said that he made negative and personal comments about them while he was commenting.  One star player was so mad at Pathan that he blocked his phone number.

Another thing the story says is that Pathan often gives his own ideas during his commentary, which some players didn't like.  His words about a certain player during India's most recent tour of Australia are said to have caused the controversy that got him kicked off the panel.  While MyKhel tried to get Pathan to react, they did not hear back.

BCCI officials were also reportedly upset with Pathan's moves toward some players during international and IPL games, according to sources.  "Otherwise, his name would have been there. It's been happening for the last two years as he was carrying his personal agendas against certain players and that didn't go down well with the system," the source said.

Because of player complaints, this is not the first time a commentator has been taken off.  In the past, Sanjay Manjrekar and Harsha Bhogle were also left out in similar ways.
